We are looking for a versatile, hands-on Linux Systems Administrator to help us build a server platform that will process hundreds of gigabytes of data per day.

You will be applying state-of-the-art distributed computing technologies to the mainstream TV industry. You will be building a Linux-based Hadoop cluster, along with a few auxiliary database and web servers. Primary responsibilities include:
• Data center buildout, including hardware and rack assembly
• General scripting and systems administration
• Hadoop configuration and maintenance
• Performance tuning
• Disaster recovery planning, implementation and testing
Experience is important, but what we really value are talent, motivation, versatility and character. You must be able to work well independently and within a small team. You must be a fast and willing learner, fearless in asking the right questions, and resourceful in finding the right answers. We are a small, close-knit team – you must be excited about working in a start up environment with other smart and motivated players.

This position is Temp to Full-Time.

Core skills:
• Advanced knowledge of Linux (any flavor).
• Data center setup and maintenance.
• Knowledge of cluster management techniques using tools such as Kickstart and Cobbler.
• Experience with Nagios or other monitoring tools.
• Familiar with network setup and administration of switches, routers and firewalls.
Bonus skills:
• Familiar with SQL and open source databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Tomcat and Apache HTTPD administration.
• Experience with Hadoop a big plus.
• Programming skills in Java or Python a big plus.
• If you have programming, algorithms and statistics know-how, you may even get into MapReduce programming
