Sr. Resource manager Job Openings at Asurion
Job Description:
Provides people management with respect to work assignments and administrative actions; analyzes training needs for project-specific work and core competencies, and then provides training opportunities to staff members to meet those needs; collaborates with project and functional managers to deliver results while focusing on productivity, high quality and cost effective people solutions; mentors and coaches staff in the arena of task and mission accomplishment with a focus on industry best practices; manages resource pools specifically focused on skill development, career assistance, performance management and utilization; and, helps resolve conflicts between competing project/work assignment needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Resource Manager is a proven people leader. The Resource Manager is responsible for coordinating the availability and expertise of resources to support approved projects, system improvements, and ad-hoc or emergency requests across the Technology Products organization. The Resource Manager effectively manages people in cooperation with functional and project managers by fully understanding the overall system and business impacts of each assignment. Resource management partners with HR to ensure alignment with the Asurion Core Values.
Qualifications:
Strong ability to see the \'big picture\' and aptitude to implement strategies that align tasks/people/requirements for success in meeting the department and business goals
Effectively manages the administrative activities of the resource group including employee maintenance such as time off approvals, performance appraisals, training and professional development, and promoting a positive working environment
Identifies training requirements for team members based on skill assessment and facilitates the scheduling and coordination of training
Provides the strategy for the creation of processes and procedures, and measurement of resource management activities with input from affected groups and individuals
Maintains knowledge of systems, tools, and processes used by Technology Products
Maintains knowledge of the business processes that drive the work of the Technology Products department
Ensures resource workload is clearly defined and leveled across the organization or department
Maintains a strong level of understanding of the Asurion markets and has a forward looking perspective on strategic business needs
Encourages an open, learning, and progressive environment
Ensures proper personnel status notifications are relayed to project and functional managers through the approved protocols
Specific Job Duties
Facilitates the development and maintenance of a clear and concise statistical and metric-based reporting of activities via status reports and dashboards
Recruits and interviews prospective staff to fill project and functional needs, including full-time employees, on-site contractors, and off-shore contractors
On-boards new hires by orienting them to the company and coordinating functional training, and prepares staff members for new assignments by providing project-specific guidance, familiarization, and training
Maintains an inventory of core competency skills and tracks individuals skills by proficiency, frequency and context of use
Manages resource utilization with respect to project and functional staffing needs, measuring productivity, forecasting future staff needs, identifying skill development needs and capacity planning
Develops staff skills by ongoing gap analysis of skill utilization and core competencies versus functional needs, identifying appropriate internal and external training and mentoring mechanisms to close the gap, scheduling the appropriate training in planned intervals between scheduled work assignments, and evaluating effectiveness of the overall training curriculum and delivery methods
Assists staff members with career development by coordinating individual development plans, coaching and mentoring, and preparing the staff member for promotion and/or successively more responsible positions
Manages performance by setting performance goals, assigning performance objectives, aligning individual and collective goals, collecting performance feedback, conducting performance reviews, and disciplinary actions
Initiates staffing requests for both full time and contracting resources
Define and maintain a vendor scorecard to drive quality and cost effective resource solutions

Job Skill:
General
Bachelors degree in Business, Computer Sciences or related field (an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered)
5 - 8 years resource planning and people management
8 years experience in one or more of the following areas (or combination thereof):
o Telecommunications industry
o Insurance / claims industry
o Relevant IT Discipline
Understanding of SDLC processes and methodologies like: MSF, RUP, Agile, and SCRUM
Skill in diagnosing and solving complex problems as well as providing detailed risk analysis with appropriate mitigation strategies and cost-benefit analyses
Superior oral and written communication skills. Ability to exhibit a commanding presence when necessary.
Superior user-level computer skills including common business applications such as MS Windows and MS Office including Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
Knowledge of theory and principles of project and resource management
Technical and Management Experience
5+ years resource planning, SDLC management, or similar experience
Experience reporting in a clear, detailed, and analytical style using fact-based metrics; setting aside all personal bias and subjectivity is required
Strong knowledge of system integration, ETL, technical operations, or related areas
Ability to handle multiple assignments and prioritize work for self and others
Excellent time management skills
Exemplary track record for carrying a set of tasks from start to finish and meeting deliverable targets
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong desire to belong to a successful team
Demonstrates self-motivation and positive energy
Proven resource management track record
